JURIED
ART SHOW
The Black Swamp Arts Festival
strives to bring new talents to Bowling Green each year. Our
arts festival goal is two-fold: to display new, exciting and quality
artwork to the public AND to give artists a wider following.
All booths in this show are arranged in groups of four so that each
booth is open on two sides. This arrangement opens up each booth so
that the public has easy access.

Artists may enter in any
of the following categories: Ceramics,
Digital Art, Drawing, Enamel, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Leather,
Mixed Media, Painting, Paper, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture,
Wood

PROCEDURES
Entrants must submit:

One JPG image of
booth AND three JPG images of artwork.

JPG images must
be submitted on a CD-ROM disk. The disk must be labeled with artist
name and medium. Many photo processing labs will scan your slides
or artwork and convert them to JPG images on CD-ROM.

$35.00 application
fee and $200.00 juried booth fee. Application and booth fees MUST
be separate checks. Booth fees are returned in full to applicants
who are not accepted in the show. Make both checks payable to: Black
Swamp Arts Festival.

One legal size,
self addressed, stamped envelope.
Entries must be postmarked by
APRIL 1, 2008.
JPG images on CD-ROM disk will be retained for promotional and/or
archival purposes.

Exhibit set-up
time: Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 from 5:30 am - 9:30 am. All exhibits
must be in place by 9:30 am.

Exhibition hours:
Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm. Sunday, Sept. 7,
2008 from 11:00 am - 5:00 PM

The person whose
work is accepted must be present during the Festival. Artist ID will
be required.

Work may not be
moved from the assigned space before 7:00 PM on Saturday and 5:00
PM on Sunday.

The Committee is
not responsible for any loss or damage to the property of the participant.
Police cars patrol the surrounding area after hours, however the Committee
assumes no responsibility for loss or damage.

Exhibitors must
furnish their own tables, chairs, display walls, and any needed materials.
This is an outdoor event.

Electrical service
is not available. Generators are not permitted.

A broad price range
is suggested.

The Black Swamp
Arts Festival takes no percentage of the profits.
-
Exhibitors at the
Black Swamp Arts Festival are selected strictly on their merit as
interpreted by an independent Jury. Every applicant
to the Festival undergoes the same critical evaluation by this Jury.
- Award winners from the previous
year are invited to return and are not required to go through the jury
process. An application must still be completed and on file for the
current year.

All work exhibited
is to be the original work of the artist. Quality commercial reproductions
of the artist's original work may be displayed and sold. Reproductions
must be signed editions and labeled "reproduction." Molded ceramics
must be made by the artist with artist designed molds. Artists displaying
work not consistent with these requirements or with submitted slides
will be asked to remove disputed work. The festival committee reserves
the rights to close any booth that is not in compliance with our written
policies.

The Committee reserves
the right to decline any entry.

Cancellations must be made by June 15, 2008, to receive a full refund of the booth fee. We regret that we cannot refund the booth fee for any cancellations made after June 15, 2008.

Free
promotional postcards
available in advance to help promote the artist at this show.

Volunteer Assistance
is available for loading, unloading, and booth tending.

A Hospitality
area provides refreshments for artists during the Festival.

An extensive marketing
campaign promotes the art and artists.

A Festival Program
features each artist's name, booth space, and media, plus a map of
the Festival area and a program of activities for the weekend.

MEET
THE JURORS
Each year, the Black Swamp Arts
Festival hires two non-affiliated art professionals to conduct the
jury process. Jurors change every year, bringing with them a variety
of specialties and backgrounds. The 2008 jurors will be announced
this summer.
