CANCELLED MAIL SHOWS FESTIVAL PRIDE
Bowling Green Post Office Commemorates 2008 Festival
with Pictorial Cancellation Stamps
BOWLING GREEN, OHIO – The Bowling Green Post Office is showing their support for the 2008 Black Swamp Arts Festival by offering two pictorial cancellation stamps depicting festival highlights. One stamp features the visual arts aspect of the Festival, the other the performing arts.
“The Bowling Green Post Office enjoys supporting the annual Black Swamp Arts Festival by providing a special pictorial cancellation for both Saturday and Sunday,” said Carole Russell, a clerk at the Bowling Green Post Office. “[Jeff Purvis, Postmaster, and myself] will not only be present to provide the cancellation but also to listen to any input from the community regarding our recent mural project which features the winning entries of the Bowling Green postcard competition.”
Purvis and Russell will be canceling mail at the Festival Info Booth, located on South Main Street between Wooster Street and the Visual Art Show, on Saturday, September 6 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and on Sunday, September 7 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 pm. Stamped envelopes, postcard stamps, and Festival postcards will be available for purchase, or patrons can bring their own mail to be cancelled. The Festival Pictorial Cancellation Stamp will also be available at the Bowling Green Post Office on Saturday, September 6 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
The 16th annual Black Swamp Arts Festival will begin Friday, September 5 with live music on the main stage and a variety of concessions. Friday hours are 5:00 PM to Midnight. The Festival continues on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7 with live music in 5 different venues, concessions, two fine art and fine craft shows, and an interactive youth arts area. Saturday hours are 10:00 AM to Midnight (art shows close at 7:00 PM; youth arts closes at 5:00 PM) and Sunday hours are 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM (art, music, youth arts, and concessions all day). The Festival is located throughout downtown Bowling Green, Ohio.
The Black Swamp Arts Festival is a non-profit event sponsored by Huntington Bank, Thayer Toyota, the Ohio Arts Council, and Time Warner Cable.
